Would the Real Jeff Walden Please Stand Up
Recently I’ve had some people asking me if I write my own blogs and I’ve had others tell me that sometimes my blogs just don’t seem to align with my personal life. Really? I thought that I did a pretty good job of aligning myself with my beliefs but maybe not.
We all live in a pretty complex society and there are lots of things that could make us act one way or another. Now I could get into the macabre view I have of the human race but that’s not really the point. The point is simply: do we portray the real version of ourselves to the outside world? More specifically, do I own up to my arguments and points made here on Walden Ponder?
It’s easy to get deep and over analyze things when you’re writing. Hell, sometimes I even write these things weeks in advance. It gives me plenty of time to read and re-read and re-analyze a situation. But in a real world setting, we just don’t have that luxury.
Disclaimer: I am not actually an early riser. I do not publish these at 8:00am every morning. They’re published on a schedule and I am indeed sleeping in while I give the illusion that I’m awake. In fact, even my Twitter and Facebook account is updated automatically.
When you read this don’t you just get the impression of a traveling guy with piercings and orange shoes plugging away on his laptop in-between flights? Well, that’s what it used to be anyway.
That being said, I’ve decided to go with a poll on this one. Please cast away.

Your posts are VERY clearly you, there's never any doubt about it.
So glad to hear!
I have found, and I'm included in this, that people wear masks for their different places in life. They have a certain way of being and acting when they're at work and yet another way of being when they're out on a Friday evening. They act yet another way when they're with family verses their old college buddies. When you're meeting others for the first time people act differently than when they're with those they've known for years. By presenting ourselves uniquely in various situations, we often want to wear the mask that shows off what we think is important for others to know about us (or to "see us").
Yes, I can hear you speaking when I read your blog… I just hope most of the stuff on here never comes up in conversation
Maybe I should just record my voice along with the blog postings. That way it would be like a real conversation. Never mind that you wouldn't have a chance to interject – it's just like having a real conversation with me.
