Chief Justice Says Police Can Bend the Rules
Chief Justice Roberts believes many lives will be at risk if we don’t allow police to pull over drivers who have done absolutely nothing wrong. Now before you go rolling your eyes just hear me out. You can read the full article here on AOL.
In a nutshell, what he’s saying is that police should be able to pull people over for driving within the rules of the law. What he’s trying to get at is that driving drunk isn’t driving within the rules of the law but police are unable to determine that you’re drunk if you’re not breaking any other laws. In order to fix this problem he proposes that we become a Nazi state and give the police (the government) full power to adjust the law however they see fit. Let every Democrat throw your eggs now and get it over with.
Really? Is this where we want to go? This is a piss poor excuse for not being able to write effective laws. Politicians shouldn’t be able to break their own rules because they suck at their job. If the law is wrong, then how about we just rewrite the law? Unfortunately for the police, it puts them between a rock and a hard place. They have taken an oath to protect and serve, but that oath is limited by the extent of the law.
Chief Justice Roberts is completely out of line to suggest that police should have the right to pull citizens over when they haven’t broken a single traffic law.

It is my opinion that police should never have the “right” to pull someone over (or enter into someone’s residence) with no reason at all. “Just because” is NOT a reason. Police should have significant probable cause to harass (initiate interaction) with someone.
Chief Justice Roberts is way off on this point.
