I Thought They were Pretzels
If you’ve never been to a hostel you wouldn’t know that in the community kitchen they usually have a bin or shelf for unwanted food. It’s quite useful if you have half of a jar of peanut butter left and can’t take it with you. The even more useful part about it is that anyone, like the hungry backpackers, can take from there. It’s a pretty inexpensive way to try some new foods.
Well yesterday I saw this package of pretzels in there and grabbed them for the train ride. I popped it open today and thought they tasted a little funny but no worries, they were free. Upon closer inspection I realize that they are not pretzels in the traditional sense. They substituted the salt for sesame seeds! What’s the point of even eating them now? I certainly can’t answer that question.
The kicker is that the name on the package is “Saltletts”.

Still, it won’t be the last time I nab food from the free bin. One time I got really lucky and found Nutella!
