Leap Forward 2 Months

Okay, it’s been some time since I’ve been posting on here. I could make all kinds of excuses but we all know what it is… (glug, glug, glug). Just kidding. I spent most of June back in Milwaukee catching up with friends and family. It was good to see everyone again but the time came to plan my next adventure.

On Sunday, July 13th, I left Milwaukee for San Francisco to catch up with some friends from London that I met in Fiji a few months ago. It was so great to see Shelley and Will again. They met up with Will’s daughter Ellen and she bummed around the city with us for 3 days.

My New PiercingsOn our trip to Haight Street I convinced myself that it was time to finally put the long awaited dermal anchors in my arm. Okay, for each of you asking what a dermal anchor is, it’s basically an implant under the skin that allows a threaded post to stick up out from the surface of the skin so you can put different piercing jewelery on there. I’ve wanted spikes sticking out of my arm for quite some time now. At the piercing parlor I was told that given the location I wanted it done, two separate surface piercings would serve the same purpose and most likely heal better. 15 minutes later I finally got it done! I put flat discs on there that look like the head to a screw for now so it doesn’t catch on my clothes while it heals but I’ll be switching it to proper spikes as soon as possible.

I’ve posted pictures of our day-trips on Picasa. http://picasaweb.google.com/jeff.walden/SanFranciscoJuly2008

On that Wednesday I sadly left San Francisco and headed to New York City. It’s funny that I don’t make it out to New York as often as I do to San Francisco, but I always remember how much I love it as soon as I step off the plane. A friend from Montreal happened to be in town at the same time so Liane and I met up for a day along with her friends Kyra and Amy.

On Friday night I took a trip to Fire Island (which is just off the tip of Long Island) but due to the nature of this blog I regret that I’m unable to document the entire experience. Basically it was a kick ass time. My new arm adornments helped bring in plenty of free drinks.

For now I’m just bumming around in New York. I leave for Europe on Sunday, July 27th. I’ll be starting off in Amsterdam but currently set to see nearly a dozen countries before I head down to the jungles of Africa. You can click here for a map.

Talk to ya soon!
