Almost Forgot About the Woman on the Subway
So I was taking the subway back from 23rd St today as I had to pick up my denim from the tailor (which is a story all on its own – ugg) and this old lady sat down next to me. I wish I would have had a video recording going. She looked down at my arm, looked back up at her friend (also in her 60′s) and said “We need to move, now”. She stood up, walked three feet to the other side of the train car and sat down. Her friend asked her why they moved, and in a completely normal volume, she looks at me and says “I didn’t want to sit next to him. Did you see his arm? It’s just in bad taste. Youngsters these days…” I wasn’t quite sure what to do so I just glared at her for the rest of the subway ride to my hostel. I figured that if I was going to be one of those “youngsters” I might as well act like one and make sure she’s uncomfortable as she thinks she should be with a “youngster” sitting on the other side of the train.
It must be great to be old.
